ADAPTING WITH CHANGES IN AGRICULTURE

 **MAKE MONEY WITH THESE* *CROPS*

*diversity in crop production*

Happy Sabbath 👋🏼 hope you are doing good this day.

Yes Kenya is among the nations that people are struck by hunger.

The other day DP Gachagua was pleading with everyone to support the drought relief program, hope you did something about it and if you didn't please try and do this as well.

Am writing this due to diversity , the rainfall patterns have changed yet we need to survive.

I come up with the following crops that can be planted with this kind of ecological condition.

Just but to mention them:

SORGHUM: Sorghum is a drought-tolerant crop that can grow well in arid and semi-arid areas of Kenya.

It is a staple food for many communities and can be used to make porridge, flour and other food products.

MILLET: Millet is another drought-tolerant crop that can be grown with less rainfall.

It is also a staple food in many parts of Kenya and can be used to make porridge, bread, and other food products.

COWPEAS: Cowpeas are a legume crop that can be grown in dry conditions and can help improve soil fertility through nitrogen fixation.

GREEN GRAMS: Green grams, also known as mung beans, are another legume crop that can be grown with less rainfall.

They are a good source of protein and can be used in a variety of dishes.

PIGEON PEAS: Pigeon peas are a drought-tolerant crop that can be grown in arid and semi-arid areas of Kenya.

They are used in a variety of dishes and can also help improve soil fertility.

CASSAVA: Cassava is a root crop that can grow in areas with low rainfall and poor soil conditions.

It is a staple food in many parts of Kenya and can be used to make flour, porridge and other food products.

These crops can typically grow with between 250-600 millimeters of rainfall per year.

Sorghum, for example, can grow in areas with rainfall between 300-800 millimeters per year, but can also tolerate drier conditions.

Millet can grow in areas with rainfall between 400-600 millimeters per year and can also tolerate drier conditions.

Cowpeas and green grams can grow in areas with rainfall between 400-600 millimeters per year, but can also tolerate drier conditions.

Pigeon peas can grow in areas with rainfall between 400-1000 millimeters per year, but can also tolerate drier conditions.

Cassava can grow in areas with rainfall between 500-1500 millimeters per year, but can also tolerate drier conditions.

It's important to note that the timing of rainfall is also important for crop growth and crops may require specific amounts of water during different stages of their growth cycle.

In areas with unreliable or insufficient rainfall, supplemental irrigation may be necessary to support crop growth and productivity.

The optimal soil pH for the crops that can grow with less rainfall in Kenya can vary depending on the crop species, but generally falls within the range of 6.0 to 7.0.

Sorghum, for example, prefers a slightly acidic soil with a pH range of 6.0 to 6.5.

Millet can grow in a wider range of soil pH, but generally prefers a slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0.

Cowpeas and green grams both prefer a slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0.

Pigeon peas also prefer a slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0.

Cassava is less sensitive to soil pH and can grow in a wider range of soil conditions, including acidic soils with a pH range of 5.0 to 6.0, but it also can grow in neutral soils with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0.

It's important to note that soil pH is just one of several factors that can influence crop growth and other factors such as soil fertility, nutrient availability and water availability are also important for crop growth and productivity.

That's just a highlight hope you can think about this plants now .
